The articles are available without an account. This version uses no visitor analytics, advertising pixels, order forms or embedded social-media content. Images and presentation assets are hosted on the site’s own server.
Language and IP lookup
When you open the neutral homepage without a saved language choice, your browser asks ipwho.is, operated by IPWHOIS.IO, for the country of the connection. The provider receives your IP address and technical connection information. We request only the success result and country code, without sending cookies or the referring page address. The result selects German or English. Other or unknown countries, errors and waits longer than five seconds lead to English. No precise-location permission is requested.
Remembering your choice
A manual choice is stored in the terabyte_language cookie for one year and takes priority over the country result. URLs containing /de/ or /en/ keep their stated language and need no country lookup. You can delete the cookie in your browser. Without JavaScript, the neutral homepage remains in English.
Hosting and messages
The hosting provider processes connection information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and may keep technical or security logs. When you send email, the mail services involved process your sender address and message. These details may be used to deal with your inquiry.
